Rapid Relaxation 5 Step
5 Minutes for Clarity and Focus

If practiced regularly, this rapid relaxation process can become a powerful tool for becoming centered, in control, and in touch with your inner self to gain true inspiration.

Step one: Breathe

Sit comfortably, close your eyes, and breathe in through your nose and out through your mouth. Now imagine when you breathe in through your nose that you are breathing in from the bottom of your feet and up to the crown of your head. Then when you breathe out through your mouth imagine that your breath is going out from the top of your head to the bottom of your feet. With the next breath, imagine that your circular breath has an aluminous bright light all around you in the shape of a large egg. Continue this circular breathing in through your nostrils, and with each breath the light around your body is growing brighter and brighter.

Step two: Noise control

Firstly, let's concentrate on the external outer noise. Bring your attention close to you so you only hear the immediate sounds around you, like the ticking of your watch, machinery sounds, or creaks in the walls. Stay with this noise for 15 seconds. Now take your attention to the noise outside, noises like traffic, people speaking, or tress rustling. Stay here for 15 seconds. Now switch your attention back to the sounds close to you and then to the far away sounds. Do this a few times till you can differentiate between the two. Next, bring your attention to your inner noise, the endless brain chatter. Imagine your thoughts are coming in through the left hand side of your mind and floating through and out the right hand side. If you have any persistent thoughts then ask these thoughts to be filed at the back of your mind and resurface at a more appropriate time.

Step three: Relax

Continue with your circular breathing and consciously relax your facial muscles. Tell your brow to relax, relax, relax, then your eyes, relax, now relax the muscles around your mouth, relax, relax, relax. Now let your shoulders drop, relax, relax and feel all the stress of the day, week and month release from your face, neck and shoulders.

Step four: Attitude of Gratitude

Still doing your circular breathing, think of a time when you had much love in your life. A time when you felt happy and relaxed, a time of great joy and peace. It could be recent or years in the past. Hold onto that feeling, remember how good it felt, imagine you are there now and intensify the feeling. Think about being grateful for that time in your life.

Step five: Connect with your inner self

Keeping your eyes shut, lift your eyes upwards and imagine your inner self is here with you. Talk to your inner self and ask for a message. Ask a question; ask for an answer of something that you want some guidance on. Your guidance may come in various forms. It may be a word, a sound, a vision or perhaps a color. Or it may just be a feeling of knowing or a feeling of confirmation. What ever it is, know it is for you only. When you have your message, thank your inner intuitive self for being with you today and always. When you are ready, open your eyes and come back to the current time and space.

Have a pen and note pad handy so you can write down any thoughts or feelings from your relaxation session. The more you do this process, the stronger and more powerful the result will be.

Article history: A professor at CCNY for a physiological psych class told his class about bananas. He said the expression 'going bananas' is from the effects of bananas on the brain. Read on:

The Big Banana and its health benefits...

Depression: According to a recent survey undertaken by MIND amongst people suffering from depression, many felt much better after eating a banana. This is because bananas contain tryptophan, a type of protein that the body converts into serotonin, known to make you relax, improve your mood and generally make you feel happier.

PMS: Forget the pills - eat a banana. The vitamin B6 it contains regulates blood glucose levels, which can affect your mood. Anemia:High in iron, bananas can stimulate the production of hemoglobin in the blood and so helps in cases of anemia.

Blood Pressure: This unique tropical fruit is extremely high in potassium yet low in salt, making it perfect to beat blood pressure. So much so, the US Food and Drug Administration has just allowed the banana industry to make official claims for the fruit's ability to reduce the risk of blood pressure and stroke.

Smoking & Tobacco Use: Bananas can also help people trying to give up smoking. The B6, B12 they contain, as well as the potassium and magnesium found in them, help the body recover from the effects of nicotine withdrawal.

Constipation: High in fiber, including bananas in the diet can help restore normal bowel action, helping to overcome the problem without resorting to laxatives.

Hangovers: One of the quickest ways of curing a hangover is to make a banana milkshake, sweetened with honey. The banana calms the stomach and, with the help of the honey, builds up depleted blood sugar levels, while the milk soothes and re-hydrates your system.

Stress: Potassium is a vital mineral, which helps normalize the heartbeat, sends oxygen to the brain and regulates your body's water balance. When we are stressed, our metabolic rate rises, thereby reducing our potassium levels. These can be rebalanced with the help of a high-potassium banana snack.

So, a banana really is a natural remedy for many ills. When you compare it to an apple, it has four times the protein, twice the carbohydrate, three times the phosphorus, five times the vitamin A and iron, and twice the other vitamins and minerals. It is also rich in potassium and is one of the best value foods around. So maybe its time to change that well-known phrase so that we say, 'A banana a day keeps the doctor away!'

Try Hypnotherapy:
Drinking, not drowning

Experts and reformed bingers weigh in on the Holy Grail of drinking: moderation

Taking control ... Viv Groskop learned to overcome "epic displays" of drunkeness.

I am not an alcoholic but I do have a problem with drink. I rarely get properly drunk - maybe two or three times a year - but when I do, it's on a shameful, monumental scale. Historically, this has often coincided with the Christmas party season.

This year, however, will be different. Or that is the idea, at least.

Six months ago, after I found myself telling friends yet another "hilarious" tale of a drunken incident, I embarked on a self-imposed period of alcoholic awareness, designed to remove the possibility of ever again being incapacitated by drink. I realised that unless I could find a way to avoid my epic displays I would be forced down the route of the alcoholic and have to give up drink completely. I was going to have to learn to deal with one drink at a time. Here's what I, and others in my position, have discovered.
